some have asked over and over how it is that i got to see even one ghost. i've come to the conclusion that it's because i'm sympathetic and compassionate. in my husband's case, he says he's always wanted to see one and hasn't. my uncle, who owns a house which is lousy with ghosts, calls my husband to come visit when the ghosts become too much for him. he says when my husband comes by the ghosts don't even make a peep for about 3 months. one ghost grabbed my husband by the shoulder and squeezed one time when he and his friend went into a documented haunted house. they wanted to see if ghosts were real. his friend and he were sitting at the base of the stairs inside when all of a sudden there was a loud noise and his friend took off like a shot. he sat there listening, intent that a noise wouldn't chase him off like that and something with a strong male feeling hand grabbed his shoulder and squeezed. he got up slowly and made his way out of the house slowly unlike his friend. he had a good look around him when this occurred and was intent on finding out who did it. he found no one was there and no one could've been there where they were sitting. they had been in a corner which allowed no room for another person.
on another occasion he was sitting quietly on a hilltop overlooking their large farm drinking in the sun and pleasant light breeze when he heard voices. they were of a woman and a small girl and as they grew louder he watched to see who they were. they passed by where he was sitting, within feet, and continued up to the top of the hill where it seemed they also were taking a rest to enjoy the nice weather. they continued to talk for some time yet the whole time nothing of them could be seen. he said later on he found what could be called grave markers without names. it was a regular occurence for people in the early days to shove a flat stone into the ground to mark graves which were put close together. we've seen this on a hillside wooded property at hue, ohio. on the same property there are also occasional large piles of creek stones which were worn by water and made smooth. in each pile the stones are of the same approximate size. an oral history of these piles of stones is that they were smaller rocks for children and larger ones to denote adults. the piles of stones were to remind anyone who thought of moving these graves later that this person had died during a contagious epidemic. it was the skull and crossbones of it's day.
not far away from the field and woods with these graves were the foundations of the old homeplace which was a log cabin where richard nixon was said to be born. he was an ancestor of the current landowner it having been passed down through the family. down in front of this log cabin were found to be indian burials with artifacts of everyday life. a long spear head of flint was found with some bird points, also of flint, and various broken pieces of pottery. the landowner found these things while attempting to bring water lines in from the road where the county had brought them through. a friend of our's who is full-blooded indian was asked by him how t proceed as he didn't want to end up being haunted by what appeared to be the burial of one indian. after looking the area over during the winter to see if any slight depressions could be seen he said he believed the other graves would've been where the man's house now sat. yes, that guy was not happy. he'd already encountered unexplained noises from the time he had lived there. our friend talked to those who might be resting there or near there and asked them to be nice to his friend who lived there. the man said he had little trouble after that and could usually find a worldly cause for any noises.
he had a garden out from the house where he was always finding bird points made of flint. we went to see him when he had a garden full of turnips one winter and my husband was eager to have some of these. the man pulled some for him and as he did so we walked around the edge of the garden looking for anything that might be pushing itself to the top of the ground as there was a thaw that week. we found some broken pieces and the edges showed serration which denotes tool making in flint. our indian friend told how he'd walk through the creek down below the man's house looking for flint and had found quite a bit. a fire would be used to heat the flint until it was hot, then it would be sunk into the cold water of a creek which would cause it to cleave alone natural separations of the stone. another time he showed us how to hold one piece of flint and hit it just so with another which is what caused the serration of the edges. it's truely an art which must be mastered to result in usable points. any signs of such things as these would be in the area of a hunting camp which would've been used in the best times for hunting. the man who owned this property said he'd heard kids in the field laughing and playing from time to time but had never seen anyone there.
our indian friend lives in his peoples' old homeplace on top of a hill and their friends who lived there before them said they'd seen a ghost. when i described her to them the guy was shocked saying i had no way of knowing what she looked like or what she did as they hadn't told anyone. he felt menaced by her and i told him to move his bed across the room as she had had hers where his now sat. she was angry that he was in her bed! lol they moved the bed and the activity stopped until months later when he saw the woman at the doorway to the room and she was smiling. she seemed to like the guy's wife alot but didn't much care for him yet she showed her appreciation at his moving his bed. this bothered him so much that they moved soon after. the place they moved to has a nasty one in the upstairs landing but they are finding that out for themselves! lol

Wow, you've certainly seen a few! I had an uncle who didn't believe, yet actually got 'evicted' from his house by a ghost; sort of. He and my aunt used to here voices and appliances would turn on. One day, when they arrived home, they heard one of the ghosts say 'They're Back'. That's when they took off and left all posessions behind. They filled bankruptcy and started over. So, even though they didn't see a ghost, they firmly believe.
