noises ghosts make - 2005/03/10 13:05
hi all!
i'd like to begin a thread about noises we've heard which we considered paranormal. this means that you checked out everything to make sure it wasn't something mechanical with the house or a noise coming from outside.
that being said, i'd like to begin this thread by telling about an incident in my uncles house which is lousy with ghost activity and to my knowledge always has been. by the way i've heard he's going to sell it though i don't know when. anyway, i sat up all night with sickness in front of the botbellied stove in the room i was in. i figured i wasn't going to sleep very soundly anyway til the sun came up and i could sleep outside. i kid you not. anyway i kept hearing someone in high heels walking up the stairs, time after, time after time, after time. this went on for hours and i'd go see who was doing this but no one was there. i looked for other sources of the noise and one time i was by the stairs when this began again. it was clearly the stair treads being impacted by high heels. i told it in a stern whisper to cut it out already but it didn't seem to hear me or was ignoring me. something about those stairs bothered me but i couldn't quite put my finger on it. in the morning i went to look again and ponder the nights events. all of a sudden it hit me what wasn't right. the stairs were carpeted and these sounds of high heels were being made on bare woods steps. i asked my uncle if there'd been any covering on the treads when he bought the house and he said there hadn't been and only within a few years had they put carpet on them themselves. he asked why i asked and when i told him he laughed and said yes, that one really disturbed his sleep alot and he also wished it would give it up already! lol

Hello, Patty. Well, it is no mystery the things I have heard in this house. I have heard my name shouted, my actual name, not just "Mommy". I have heard a music box when we don't own one. The reason I say a music box is because of the tinny type music that is played, with limited notes. However, unlike typical music boxes, this one does not seem to slow down. I have heard growling, giggling, but the thing that intrigues me the most is hearing my name called in my own head...almost at a lung bursting shout...but it was in the middle of the night, in the middle of my sleep. It was so loud that I could have sworn that it was about to echo off the inside of my skull.
Patty, ever heard of spirits that could invade sleep?
Thanks for the moderation and all your help,
RootKitty

Sorry, Kitty, for butting in but how do you mean invading sleep? Do you mean, getting into your dreams or what? Then its Patty's turn. lol

You are not butting in, TLA... I value all the input I can get.... It was an open question. Well, for instance, I was sound asleep when I heard my name being screamed inside my head, in my dream, until I woke up...and even after I was wide awake (which was just a second and in a cold sweat), it continued until I gave whatever spirit my undivided attention and was scared out of my wits (which does not take much nowadays). So, my question is, did it invade my dream (which I can't remember now) in order to get my attention, did it just keep screaming in my head until I woke up, I dunno.

I take it Root dosen't snore. I do. And my wife is not a happy camper.
Anything heard from the real world while we sleep is incorporated into our dreams until its so obnoxious that we wake up and realize it wasn't our dream, but from the outside. My wife knows when she hears a foghorn in the middle of the Sahara with Brad Pitt in her ear or dreams suddenly of a nuclear holocast in the middle of her roaming fields of daisies while being molested by Sean Connery that she has to wake up and role me over. It just don't fit. No matter how good they are. And it gets on the nerves.
Am I still butting in?
ök. Your loss, Patty
Basically, yea, it kept bugging you until you woke up. It wants your attention. Why is what we haven't figured out.
Sleep good! hihi

Re:noises ghosts make - 2005/03/28 03:42
kitty,
although i'm not extremely informed about the spirit world's specific titles for entities i do know of the incubus and succubus which are connected to sexual contact by spirits. i think one is male and the other female. i believe the catholics consider these demons or something. up to now i haven't been very intrigued by their labels for things as i felt organized to be full of ceremony to impress people. sort of like the mesopotamian preists who would climb into a specially carved out rock to make people believe they were a god. yep, they did that. the people weren't allowed to go around the back side of such carved figures. how could they know it was a trick. i'll keep searching to see what other entities i can find.
the movie of the entity is a good example of a woman who was attacked repeatedly and beaten mercilessly by the spirit of a dead step dad she'd had. he abused her this way as a child too.
i hadn't noticed before but you said before the growls came from different places as if the wolf were everywhere at the same time. now re-reading this i believe i've come to the conclusion that what you experienced was a pack of wolves and not just one. for so many to be in one place at the same time would take a lot of energy. did you feel the hair on your arms, legs and back of the neck stand out when this was happening? just part of a theory i'm checking out. have you tried putting dog treats out on the floor in dining room and keeping your dog with you. if you have a flour sifter dust the floor with flour so that footprints will show up. i've seen people do this with the back of their cars at the railroad crossing where the schoolbus was hit and alot of kids were killed. anyway, they put the car in neutral after parking on the tracks. the car moves off the tracks, going uphill and when it stops there are little handprints all over the back of the car where the children pushed it. i've seen "sightings" and "unsolved mysteries" shows do this experiment and it worked.
hey, who knows, you might get little mousy prints!
the tinny music box you hear.........that dosen't slow down like a victrola would, friends of our's has one of those. there are metal disks with little metal tabs sticking up on the disk. then the mechanism goes across each tab it plucks it like you would pluck a guitar string. that's what makes each note. old swiss music boxes were made this way and were extremely expensive to own in the old days. ever seen the silver swan that eats the fish? it's a swiss mechanical device and only one of two in existence. it looks like it's sitting on moving water. really cool to watch. if the melody you hear is in tune and in time it's probably come from an antique music box. do you know anything about writing music or can you hum the tune into a recorder. take the tune to your nearest sheet music store and they might be able to tell you what the name of it is. clearly some pieces are from different periods of time reflecting what was popular at certain periods of time. do you recognise the tune at all?
thanks,
