hmmmm, theories..........
why do they exist is the same as why do we exist. everyone wants to know at some time or another why they are here and how they got here. i suppose it could be the same when your body dies if you don't move on to the next place. some like where they are just fine and never intend on leaving even after death. i've heard of hauntings which replay a tragic event every nite at midnight. the same two people, a mother and son, a big psycho knife, and they meet at the bottom of the stairs to commit the obvious. that's when they disappear. you might think this is like a rerun of a tape recorded show but it may not be so. sometimes it's been said that one or both of the people in this react to those living in the house while going through the paces. maybe the act itself was so intense as to leave that door open to that specific incident forever. somehow it may have trapped them there doing the same things until the end of the world. for me, i can see where spirits come back to visit when they find a portal to make forays into our dimension. maybe they're on vacation from perfection, maybe they're slumming it or maybe, they've come back to send a message. most of the time i believe they enjoy being a part of the world they once knew well. others are so full of rage and hate that when they die they form an intention to exhaust their rage and hate on anyone and everyone they can. now come on.......how many of you haven't thought from time to time how you have one person in mind that if you were to die you'd come back and scare the bejeebers out of them, and how! lol then there are those really "special" people i'd like to come back and throw things at, lol. i wonder if when a spirit who's passed over and not used to picking the right time frame yet, might end up in a time they aren't used to. maybe this is why soldiers are seen so often in our own time.
while visiting my brother and his family in alabama i was taking a few moments to catch my breath after playing with their kids. seeing movement out the dining room window i looked just in time to see a nice looking man of about 28 or so looking into their window. he was carrying a long gun up againt his shoulder like he was on patrol or guard duty. i could tell by his uniform and style of facial hair that he wasn't from our time. i could see him very clearly in every detail. he seemed ashamed that i'd seen him looking in and he smiled slyly before moving away. i followed to where he should have been and made a quick exit out the front door to go have a closer look. i had to know if there were any footwear prints. nothing. the plants there weren't disturbed either and neither was the grass where he would have been walking. i did a little looking on the internet to find a description of a certain style and color of uniform. turns out my feeling that this guy was one of morgan's raiders was correct as far as the uniform goes. my idea of that crew were that they were from much further north than alabama. nope, seems some did live in that specific area and are known of in historical records. it was where they came from originally before they entered into military service in the civil war. this guy guards the place and makes eye contact with people on purpose. sort of letting them know he's keeping an eye out for them.
the lives of some of these people were ended so abruptly that they still believe they are alive like we are. this guy seemed no different. how do we know we are not already dead? what is death? yes, i've seen that movie "the others" lol. it makes a good point. picture someone in the far future at a place in time where time overlaps, such as our time and their time. we might see them in our time and they might see us in their's. i believe this is possible. i don't know why it happens but there are times when i spontaneously go to an earlier time in my life. i have seen myself at about age 8 and again at about 14. i had a feeling in my solar plexis that the woman i was seeing was me. in my 30's i was thinking of when i was about 8 and 14 and certain incidents that took place then. i was there all over again, smelling the old smells of home and feeling the atmosphere there. it was great. i saw myself at age 8 and realized that i had once been the 8 year old who saw me in my 30's, lol. this so scared me that i pushed my way out of this and back to my present. i was scared to death that i might get stuck there and not be able to get back to where i should be. i mean what are the chances of doing this? obviously very high with me. if i can feel everything with all my senses while back in the past i can presumably be hurt too. don't ask me how i could exist in one time in two bodies. it's just too weird. i feared that if i allowed the 8 year old me to touch the 30 something me i might get stuck for sure. someone asked me if i could go into other countries and see things, and just in searching my being to see if i could resulted in my being in another country. i chose which ones and just found myself there. i appeared in east germany on the bad side of the wall between a young woman and a young man. i can still remember the fright on her face when i appeared there. they were in the process of attempting to escape. my appearance didn't help matters which made them more scared and they were caught. i went to the woman and tried to soothe her nerves but i'm afraid i just made her think she was going nuts. who wouldn't think that? guess you can't fix some things. finding that i could keep myself hidden from view and still talk to the minds of the guards there i talked to them as if they were having an etherial encounter or something. this got them to give this woman better healthier food. she had grown sick over a short time in that drafty cold place.
grandma always taught me to do the best you can with what you have at the time you have it. maybe these spirits are appearing in an effort to answer questions we have about what happens after our bodies die. they show us litterally that their bodies are dead yet their spirits are still very much alive and well.

Hi, I'm new to the forum tonight. I left an outline of what I'm doing lately regarding ghosts. I'd like to just outline my simple approach to ghosts, since I've only been studying the subject for about one year.
I think ghosts demonstrate an ability to manifest themselves in our world. This doesn't tell us what they are, or what they are made of, but I believe they usually appear in vague forms and images because they are using available weak sources of ambient energy and materials. Some clues to what they influence in our world appear in the type of instruments that respond to ghost activity. Magnetic fields from the earth; powerlines; man made instruments (like radios,recorders,TVs); are influenced by ghost voices, images, etc. Ghosts have long been credited for moving compass needles. A compass is a device that responds to changes in magnetic fields. Gauss meters also respond to magnetic waves.
All forms of energy in this world are believed to be electromagnetic in nature and appear as part of a long continuous spectrum of frequencies. I therefore believe that instruments that monitor any part of this spectrum might detect effects caused by ghosts. Cameras respond to the light spectrum of electromagnetic waves and capture ghostly images.
The images and voices are the important source of information about ghosts, because our instruments can only tell us of effects felt in our world, not the nature of the beings causing these changes, or what is their purpose.
