I know what you’re thinking... You’re thinking ‘Wow, I was really looking
forward to the next post; I’m glad he’s finally gotten off of his bum and
started typing.’ You know, sometimes you can learn more by sitting on your bum
than you can by getting your hands dirty. I had time to do some thinking,
background checking, and even peeking into various religions regarding
ghosts.
Before RootKitty and I were together I had never seen nor heard from a ghost.
As a matter of fact, ghosts were the furthest things from my mind; didn’t know,
didn’t care. After her and I started living under the same roof, we had acquired
a ghost of some sort in our apartment. The ghost was a teenager she said, and he
seemed to love straightening pictures that were hanging crooked. Sometimes I
could even hear him walking around upstairs when the children were asleep. As
far as I know, I never did see him though. I could only hear him.
Later of course, we moved into the house that this site was about; the REALLY
haunted house. In the beginning, I hadn’t noticed too much. But when things
started happening, I couldn’t help but to experiment. As we know, that didn’t
turn out too well. My experimentation seemed to cause more problems, as each
time something happened it was worse than the time before.
Now living away from both of those places, I had originally felt that we
could finally get some peace and quiet. I now realize, from studying what
RootKitty’s been doing, that I had given myself a false sense of security. It
turns out that RootKitty really enjoys paranormal study. She’s joined a ghost
hunting club and has even been buying ghost hunting equipment. Unfortunately for
the rest of us, she’s also bringing her work home with her. Several days ago,
I was awakened at night because I felt my dog walking on my bed. As I turned
over to face the other side, I saw my dog sleeping soundly. I remember wondering
why I felt a dog walking on me when my dog is lying there asleep. Sadly, I was
so tired that I didn’t give it another thought and fell back asleep. Later I
just assumed that I had been dreaming; that was more probable than a ghost dog
walking on me. It wasn’t for a few more nights that I realized something wasn’t
right.
As I lay in bed sleeping soundly, I remember feeling something on my neck. I
didn’t know what it was; it felt like a touch or something similar. I woke up
instantly, hands waving wildly, trying to get whatever it was off of me. I sat
up in a panic, still wailing about, when RootKitty finally calmed me down. I
didn’t know what it was that I felt on my neck. Was it a lick? A spider? A
dream? Or was it actually a touch that I felt? It was the side of my neck that
was opposite of RootKitty, so it couldn’t have been her. And with me wailing
about, it was pretty obvious to her that I was freaked out.
What I’m getting at, is that these kinds of things didn’t use to happen.
Since they’ve started since she and I have been ‘together’, I’ve come to believe
that certain people may be able to somehow magnify the energy of a ghost,
similar to the new show called Ghost Whisperer. Some people are more perceptive,
more willing to see ghosts and spirits as factual rather than an imaginary
fabrication. I think that deep down inside they have no doubts that these things
actually coexist among us, and their strong belief allows them to become more
receptive. Perhaps our SOUL knows, but the body is designed to hide that
knowledge. Every now and then the mind may powerful enough to overcome the
limitations of the body and allow the soul’s knowledge to bleed through.
It’s my understanding that the Cherokee Indians believe(d) that our spirit
has knowledge of all things and that we are not meant to carry this higher
knowledge while in mortal form. But sometimes this knowledge ‘comes through’ and
allows us to perform various paranormal acts. You’ve heard of levitation,
spontaneous human combustion, telekinesis, and various forms of telepathy. These
acts may all be the result of internal knowledge regarding things that we
otherwise couldn’t possibly fathom.
I suspect that religion also comes into play here. Some religions do not
believe in reincarnation or that spirits can roam after death. A common belief
is that you die and go to heaven if you’ve been good, or hell, of course, if
you’ve been bad. If a person has that particular religion, then there’s really
no opportunity for the ‘knowledge’ to pass from the soul to the mind, as the
mind is closed. Those particular individuals will be a lot less likely to
transform that knowledge into a paranormal act.
I've created a survey to look for similarities between people’s religion and
their paranormal experiences. What do you think I’ll find? Do you think your
religion interferes with your paranormal experiences?
Take the survey so we can find
out.
