Hello Ghost Hunters!

My name is Ellen, and I'm joining my buddy Mike on HelloGhost.com to publicly discuss and wonder about the paranormal world that seems to surround us most of the time. I have been experiencing, researching and experimenting with ghosts or spirits for the last 30 years. Through my personal experiences and observations I have come to some pretty interesting conclusions regarding these unseen visitors and roommates.

My fascination with what happens to us after death started with my first ghostly experiences when I was about 6 years old. I am now 40 and as I said, I have spent my entire life questioning everything and I do mean EVERYTHING. No subject was out of bounds for me, including religion.

I can remember being labeled as a rebellious child for questioning what the good Sisters tried to teach me in Catholic school but there was something about what they were teaching that just didn't jive with what I was feeling and experiencing. Luckily, I had very open minded parents who allowed me to think and explore. This freedom was the beginning of my life long quest to figure it all out. Unfortunately, I'll never have it all figured out, but it sure is exciting to explore and learn.

I am not psychic, but I am sensitive and aware of spirits. Due to my ideas and studies they visit. Their presence is felt and they can be seen as either dark or light wispy clouds darting around and it appears to me that the deeper that I probe into this subject the more interested in what I'm doing they become. They want me to notice them, and I do.

For the last several years I have been fascinated with the study of Electronic Voice Phenomena or EVP. One of my biggest influences has been the work of a researcher named Mrs. Sarah Estep. Mrs. Estep is the founder of The American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena (AA-EVP) of which I am a proud member. I will discuss Mrs. Estep's work with you another time. You will find her to be a very down to earth and conscientious researcher.

EVP is the way to go. In my opinion nothing spells proof more than capturing the voices of the deceased on tape. To me, EVP research done in a controlled environment is the only post mortem research that could be taken seriously by the scientific community. We can discuss these ideas and my ongoing experiments in future articles.

At this point in my introduction I need to tell you that I don't have much faith in mediums or psychics. I do believe that certain people do have a gift for hearing or communicating with the deceased but those folks are very rare indeed. I would love to find a psychic that I could believe in, but I currently live in the circus called South Florida! If you know this area you understand that statement, we have our share of folks that are more delusional than informed about the subject.

I do not mix what I term WOOWOO with my studies. I am a skeptic when it comes to metaphysics in general and I try very hard to keep this all on a scientific level. I realize that the Spirits are dead PEOPLE and they have many of the same basic questions regarding reality as we have. You may be surprised to learn through their recorded voices what Spirit people think regarding God, religion, the devil and our basic misunderstanding of the way things are. Because of their position in reality they have knowledge that I crave. I strive for understanding.

Because of this lifelong "hobby" I do not fear death in anyway, and I can comfort those that are facing it. I feel that it is my responsibility to help curb the fears of my loved ones and, with my knowledge, to help prepare them for the inevitable transition that awaits us all.

Until recently, my approach to gather EVP evidence has been childish at best. I have a Panasonic micro recorder with a external microphone and a decent computer with software for examining my recordings. I have been attempting to gather evidence in cemeteries and here in my home. The next step is to set up controlled, daily experiments here in my office.

I desire to reach out to the more advanced Spirits that may wish to speak to me. Any contact that has been made so far in cemeteries and such is entirely a different element. I feel that those people are in need of help and I am not equipped to give it to them. I feel that if I can form a relationship with evolved Spirit people through my controlled experiments here in my office that perhaps then I could call on the help of the Spirit people that I reach to help the lost ones.

I am very excited by what lies ahead of me. It's not a matter of needing more proof, as I could not believe in anything more than I believe in this. I simply want to know more and more. I need to understand and help others to understand that death is only a transition and it is nothing to fear.
