news from the our current haunt. last night about 11:30 i heard very distinctly, the sound of one of our closet doors popping open. the house is from the '50's and so from time to time one of them pops open. this morning though, after checking both closet doors and the two in the adjoining room i found that none of them had popped open. hmmmmm. my husband talked to the woman across the street who's lived there for many many years about the house. she told him that the woman who lived here before us was hearing all sorts of things not attributible to normal house noises. she said the noises were strange sounding. when we first moved here i'd hear the sound of someone dropping what sounded like a large metal tub on the concrete basement floor. several times i've heard the basement door being slammed very hard. when i went to investigate the basement door would be open. i'd shut it and quietly walk to the bedroom where i had a weapon, lol, and a door to put between me and whoever was in the house. for good measure i called my husband who was on the road at work making deliveries. i told him just in case something were to happen and i could not speak for myself for some reason i wanted him to know what i'd heard. the dog as usual was hunkering down on the bed at these times which should've told me what it was. this dog barks are people who walk on the other side of the street as if she owns all that area, lol. she barks at flags waving in the breeze, trees swaying, and animals she might spot outside the window. now, let the doorbell ring and she's right there like a seething snarling beast although she's anything but. stomp your feet at her and she hides behind our legs, still barking like "just come on!" lol so when she curls up very tight and refuses to come off the bed she's scared and not of strangers. something is threatening her space. oh, if we could only have eyes like her's. what might we see? she dosen't bark at whatever it is she growls low and gutteral and sometimes snarls low too. when we ask her what's the matter she looks at us like, "you've got to be kidding right!?" and then looks at what she's seeing and growls again. this dog is smart. when she sees us eating something like cheeeeeeese, lol, she's right there watching it go from our plate to our mouth. we ask her what she wants and she'll look right at the cheese with much intent and then at the floor like "just throw it on the floor!" the motions she makes are very intent. there's never any question what she wants. so when we ask her what she's growling at she'll do the same thing. she looks at us with her head cocked a little to the side then she'll look right at what is bothering her and growl and then look back at us like "there it is, go get it!" everyone in the family and relatives alike translate for this dog all the time, her facial expressions are so intense they cannot be mistaken. when she gets ticked off she'll make a sound like she's sneezing but it's more like a spit. she's always been a very expressive dog. one day the woman who lived here before us and we will have to sit down for a long talk. lol no doubt she'll tell us about things we've already heard. my husband told the neighbor lady today that my cousins kids called such entities "the people who live in the house that don't pay rent", she laughed. i've told the ghost to cut out the 8 am. wakeup calls. i yell at him when he slams doors or drops heavy metal tubs. wonder what he wants, he and his big dog. stay turned for the next episode of the "paranormal parade" lol.
