Hi Folks!

I've got a problem. It's been a long while since I've sensed or experienced anything. As a matter of fact, I was hoping I had finally outgrown it. You know, kids outgrow doing stupid things like playing with raw hamburger or having allergies. As we get older our bodies adjust and our minds become more organized.

We're visiting a very good friend in Germany in the town where I used to be stationed and also where I met Shanara. Shanara grew up with this woman and I've known her for well over 20 years now so we're all very tight. She even signed our guestbook here (Moni).

She's had a hell of a life but has managed to stay on her feet while raising 2 wonderful girls on her own. And finally things are really starting to go her way. We have tremendous respect for her and love her dearly. But her house is haunted.

"Yea, yea, big deal. Ok." But you have to understand that she dosen't believe in spirits and also lives alone with her daughters in this huge house. So how do you suggest something without making her life even more difficult? Anybody understand me here? If she's not aware of it, then why mention it.

Then comes Shanara.... "Youi have a strange house". So much for sparing the innocent Actually we were quite surprised. She has experienced several things in this house but just chose to ignore them.

I've sensed something here everytime we've visited but never really experienced anything dramatic. It was just a feeling. On Tuesday morning Shanara and I were drinking coffee in the kitchen. The kids had all gone to the playground. And Moni's boyfriend was upstairs fixing her computer. That's when there came the knock on the door.

My first thought was "Man, I hope Shanara stands up before I do. I hope she'll answer the door. Maybe if I just wait...."

Shanara went to the door

There was nobody there. Even Shanara was perplexed. It was 4 distinct klops on a door as if someone wanted in. We've checked everything trying to find a reasonable answer. Nothing. I have been able to deduce that the clopping was not at the frontdoor but rather the door going to the basement. It had the same tone when knocked upon as that which we had heard. Since then I've been "brushed" a few times and seen fleeting shadows. My senses, which have always alerted me, are going into overtime responding and analysing everything.

Moni knew all was not well here but refuses to get nervous about it. She's told us how she, her boyfriend and daughters have heard footsteps walking through the attic. Doors shutting and opening by themselves. The basement has the strongest vibes but I refuse to venture down there. I'm not up for it. But the visitor is not dangerous or benevolent so why get excited about it?

While cleaning out her basement she found a calender book dated 1928 in perfect shape laying on a shelf that has been empty for years. She brought it to us and handed it to me. I got such a shock that I threw it back on the table right away and rrefused to touch it. There is nothing written on the pages but there is a map of Eurpe at that time in the very front that has cities underlined. Starting in Poland and ending up here in this town.

After talking with an original settler of this area, we know that it is the route taken by the polish refugees in the late 40s escaping the russian occupation at the end of WW2. A woman built this house in 1950 and was one of the refugees.... and she had been born in 1928.

We're driving back home tomorrow. I've had enough and don't really want to become more involved. It brings back too much and I want out. It's not benevolent or evil so I'm not worried about Moni. We're just keeping it all cool for now.

So much for a relaxing vacation.

Take care ya'll!
